Yet Another Cake Creation

I made this cake for a wedding shower for a girl at work. They are not having a wedding cake, so I told her I would try to make it look like one.
They saved the top tier for their 1 year anniversary. They are doing a destination wedding in March and there are only a few people attending. The cost of a cake for that many people was obsene. The Calla Lillies are the color of the ones in her bouquet. The only request for the cake came from the groom-to-be. He wanted all Chocolate! So, the cake is a chocolate sour cream cake with chocolate buttercream icing. YUM!! My next cake adventure is going to be for my sister in-law's wedding on April 4th. I will definately post pictures! I am also doing the groom's cake for her wedding as well. I may have to take a break after that (or a vacation)!!

Hello All,
Here is a picture of a cute cake that I made last night. Thanks Mom for the really cute pan!! It was super easy to use and went over well with the group at work! I was hoodwinked into helping keep a birthday buddy a secret at work. The girl who asked me to make the cake didn't want her birthday buddy to know that she was her buddy and asked me to make something "Alli-esque." The birthday girl loves cake, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use this super cute pan and giant sprinkles! She loved it!!!

A friend of Jay and I recently graduated from grad school at the University of Tennessee and his family asked me to make the cake for their shin-dig.
If you can't tell from the theme, he played soccer his entire life and he loves UT!

I know it is a little late to wish people Merry Christmas, but I wanted to share some cute pics we took of our little boy.

I couldn't believe that it snowed in TN, but Gus sure didn't care!!
He kicked it around and made snowballs to eat. It was too cute! He chased it falling out of the sky. I thought he would get cold because he is short-haired, but he couldn't get enough.

I got to see really neat architecture!
I went to a broadway play called Wicked, it was so good!!!!! And the best of all I got to meet... Dwight!! (From the office) Here are the pics!

So , here are the updates on us!
We are going to seel our house and buy one 2 or 3 miles up the road in a newer subdivision called Woodmont. We are hoping that this will be our live in for almost forever house!
We are happy and have been married for almost 2 years now... yikes!
We still have Gus-Gus, our only child and love of our lives! Oh and yes, he is a dog!
We are both working hard and trying to relax where able.
So now you are updated, here are some new Gus pics!

Look What We Grew!!

I actually got something to grow without killing it!!! We have many beautiful tulips in out front yard now. Most of them surround our little tree that is in the middle of the yard.

This was the first one that bloomed. Awwww, so cute!

I just thought this was a neat picture. Wierd how they explode when they open.

Here is yet another shot of the same flower.

I took this one only a few days after the first. Now our little pink tulips has friends of many colors!

This one was taken at dusk, so I am not sure if you can really see it. It is our little blooming tree with the tulips. I am not sure what kind of tree it is, but the blooms look like little pink carnations. I think it will be pretty when it has a little more size to it.

I just wanted to share a tid bit of our garden. Oh, Mom...there are all kind of bulbs popping p by the pond in the front. I will take pictures of those when they are not little green spikes in the ground!

Sleeping Beauty.

Mom!!! I'm Hungry!!! He really does bring us his bowl when he is hungry or thirsty. It is too cute! The only bad part is when he is hungry and there is still water in his bowl. Makes a mess, but at least it is just water. Thank goodness for the Spot Bot!!

Maybe if I shut my eyes you will stop taking pictures of me.

The boat dock area that was outside the window at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company where we had lunch. Nice boats.

My personal favorite...The Bay Bridge at night. The car was moving and the flash was off so I could get a good shot of the lights. I din't think it would blur it like that, but I love it!

I am finally posting the pictures that I took while in San Fransico with my family last month. Sorry to those who have been waiting patiently. I really needed a break from laundry and thought this would be a good thing to do. So, here are some highlights of the trip:

Cable cars are the coolest things!

Snow in Tennessee

The first snow of the year and of course I miss it! I always seem to be in California visiting whenever it snows. Luckily, it decided to snow a little Sunday morning as well so I didn't miss it completely. Because my husband is so wonderful, he took these pictures for me while I was vacationing with the family for Mom's birthday. It was a pretty good snow judging by the pictures.
By the looks of it, Gus doesn't really know what to do. (In case you are wondering the thing Gus is sniffing is a garden hose) He looks like a true hunting dog sniffing his surroundings and acclimating himself to the weather. According to Jay, the snow didn't seem to bother him at all.
DON'T EAT YELLOW SNOW! I had to post this picture because Jay was so proud it it! Did you notice he cought him mid-stream?! I just thought it was one for the funny pages if nothing else.

I am sorry I have been so long between posts. Things have been a little hectic in the Michaelson house lately. But, better late than never, right?!
I took these pictures a few days ago and was surprised to see the growth and grown-up-ness of out boy! His puppy appearance is slowly gowing away, but he is still one of the cutest dogs ever!!!!! So, here is a little montage of our little man. Hope you enjoy!
Hey Grandma....I told you I sat like Britty! I think it is the wierdest thing. For those of you who don't know, I had a Brittney Spaniel growing up and she sat with her back legs turned to the side just like Gus is in this pic. Maybe it is something that this breed does. Who know, bit it is totally cute!
Peek-A-Boo...I see you!!! I thought this one was really cute. I was calling him to come to me so I could take a picture and he decided to get on the back of the couch. He has that creative eye for a good kodak moment. I think my favorite feature on him are those great ears! They are too flippin' cute when he perks them up like that.
"Why do you keep taking picture of me mom!?" I was trying to get a picture of his profile, but he turned as soon as I started pushing the button. Turned out preety good though considering it wasn't what I was going for!
" Dang...those laps around the living room can sure be tiring." He likes to run cirles over and around the furniture in the living room. It is crazy once he gets going. It really tuckers him out.
"Thanks Grandma for the great Christmas present!! I have already chewed off the eyes and nose AND I have un-stuffed the head. P.S. Did I tell you it squeaks too!! It is my favorite part!!"

I hope these pics were worth the wait! I promise to get better at posting more often. Look back at the earlier posts and you can really see how he has grown and how his features are changing. It is amazing. Love you all!!

Sun Bathing

Seriously!!! How could you not fall in love with this face! This one was taken about a month ago, but I had to share. I really need to take new pictures. Gus is growing into a little man. He still has all of the puppy traits we have come to know and love, but his body is slowly changing. I will be sure to upload a few new pictures soon! Love you all!!! my dog likes to spread his legs out? I think it is hilarious. I especially like when he drags himself on the floor with his front legs to stretch out. He rarely lays with his legs tucked under his body. It gets really fun when he lays like this horizontally between Jay and I at night. Luckily, he doesn't mind if we turn him around. He sleeps like a log.

Our Christmas Tree

Here is our beautiful Christmas Tree!!! I think it is wonderful. You might be wondering why there are no lights on the bottom...Well, we didn't want Gus to chew them up and we figured they would eventually be blocked by gifts anyway. Well, there also is the fact that we sort of ran out!!! It all worked out in the end though. I am not sure if you have a good view of it, but yes, Gus has a stocking! It was carefully hand crafted by my mom as well as mine and Jay's! Thanks mom!!! They are great.

Here is another view of our tree! See, is wasn't such a bid deal that the lights didn't quite make it to the bottom!!! Oh, and the Christmas village in the corner is so cute. It is a Pooh Bear Christmas Village. Jay got this for me a few years ago, but this is the first year it has been used! It is so cute!

I think this is the best picture of all! I put him over by the tree, told him to sit and stay and he actually did it!!! It was unbelievable!! He would only let me take one, so there isn't a real ambiance with the lighting. I didn't have the chance to turn off the flash. I think he did very well though, plus it gives a pretty good idea on how much he has grown. When we got him, he was chubby little guy of 16 pounds. Now he is lean, a bit taller and weighs 22 pounds! He should get to be around 30-35 pounds when he is full grown. Almost there!! His mannerisms are still completely puppy though!! He his loads of fun and a great cuddler!

Isn't this HILARIOUS!!! Look at him showing off. He definitely fits into the family well; a little bit of crazy and a whole lot of cute!! I am thinking of sending this one in to Cosmo. I think it is provocative enough to make the cover. He might want to work on pouting his lips a little more. :)

Our Wedding Video

Just to let everyone know, we officially have our wedding video for your viewing pleasure. If you would like a copy of it, just let me know. We have 6 on hand, but our photographer said that he would make more if needed. I will admit it isn't a blockbuster hit, but it was fun to watch all the same. I liked seeing the parts of the wedding that I missed and some of the things that were said.. I know I will enjoy it many times in the future and we would love to share the moments with you.

P.S. It is a DVD, so you don't have to worry about old technology!!

WOWZER!!!

The Titans did it again!! What a fun game. I can definately say that this was a great weekend for football in Tennessee. On Saturday night, Jay's high school almamater, the Smyrna Bulldogs, won the division 5A state championships for the first time is school history and the Titans beat the Colts for the first time since 2002! I can say I am a little footballed out, but it was well worth it! The kicker for the Titans, Rob Baronas, kicked an amazing 60 yard field goal to with the game with 11 seconds left!! It was extremely exciting being as the Colts are first in the division. The stadium went crazy!! People were on the streets and in parking lots after the game chanting Rob Baronas!! It is more fun if you put his name to the tune of My Sherona! So all in all a great weekend. I hope everyone's Christmas shopping, decorating, and plans are going well. Just 21 more days til Christmas!!

She said, a mixture of cheap fruit juice and Kool-Aid! Crazy huh!! Who would think to do this is beyond me. But, here it is all the same!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the dinner or family! What a klutz I know! I was too busy eating and chatting with the in-laws and their family to take any decent pictures. We did have a great holiday though! I would say the only downfall was sleeping outside of Office Depot on Thursday night!!! Yes, we are those people! :) I actually slept in the car for a couple of hours and then decided I was going home. I did get back to the store at a very early 4 in the morning. I guess you could say it was worth it!! We did find some great deals!! Jay actually slept in line outside with his dad!!! I think he is feeling the reprocussions today being as he has a very sore throat and is not going to work. What topped off the great holiday weekend you ask? The TITANS WON!! Yes, they beat the Giants, scoring 24 points in the 4th quarter. Yep, I was there!! It was an extremely boring game up until the 4th quarter. I feel bad for the fans who left early and missed the climactic ending! A 49 yard field goal! It was perfect! Jay's throat might hurt from all the yelling too, you can never tell. Well, I hope everyone had a great holiday and jis getting revved up for Christmas. I know I am. I already started wrapping gifts. We don't even have a tree yet! What can I say...I love this time of year.

Even though I have e-mailed everyone pictures of Gus, I only thought it appropriate to include a picture of him on this site as well. It is a good way to keep track of his growth too!! We can look back in the archives (when we have enough blogs!), and see what a cute little puppy he was! I am sure Mike and Anna like that tidbit for Aidan as well. He definitely isn't picky about which toy he plays with, unlike Snickers! His little green hippo has already lost all of it's stuffing!!! And only in one week!!!! His adolescence should be interesting!

I was talking to Mike the other day and he mentioned how easy this "family website" is to set up and use. He said Anna did it in a flash!! So, following the wisdom of my family, I thought I would use this knowledge to help everyone keep in touch with us as well. Everyone knows that Gus is growing fast and is much bigger already. I thought instead of getting hounded for pictures, everyone could visit our wonderful website and check things out for themselves! (sorry Dad!) Don't worry... the e-mails will still come.
